Visiting The National Stud, Newmarket

A number of our members and friends visited the National Stud in Newmarket for a fascinating and enjoyable afternoon tour. Thanks go to John Hammond, one of our friends from Baldock Rotary Club, for taking these lovely photographs.

"Task Force" at Ivel Valley School

In October we had a display at Jordans Mill  culminating in a major publicity effort on Sunday 16th when 2,500 crocus bulbs were planted by members of the public in the beautiful grounds of the Mill. The display was manned during the week over the Breakfast and Lunch periods. By common consent, the display did evoke a good deal of interest and raised an awareness among many visitors who “hadn’t realised this disease was still a problem in the world!” It also raised the profile of Rotary, enabled the sale of some 60 silk crocuses and raised £124.82 in donations! Come the weekend the display was manned all day, raising a further £77.76, and during the afternoon was enhanced by the arrival of an iron lung – children’s size – complete with two child mannequins!
