A BRIEF CLUB HISTORY … |
|
|
The Rotary Club
of Biggleswade IVEL first gathered as individuals in September
1999, and was chartered as a club in 2000. It
was formed with the invaluable help and encouragement from the Rotary Clubs
of Biggleswade
and Sandy. Unlike
these 'mother' clubs of ours, we have our meetings in the evening rather than
at lunchtime, thus enabling a wider range of members to take part.
|
|
|
Our
Rotary club is officially part Area G of District 1070, in Zone
18, of Rotary
International, and Rotary International
in Great Britain & Ireland. Over
the years, we have variously organised Fun and fund-raising events, including
Music Concerts, Quizzes, Race Nights, Social Evenings, Fireworks Displays,
and many more. We
have successfully undertaken many community projects, notably the Kingfisher
Way Project in association with our mother clubs and the Ivel & Ouse
Countryside Project. ... in addition, we are currently involved in an
international community project to fund, supply and distribute mosquito nets
in Africa. |
