A BRIEF CLUB HISTORY …

The Rotary Club of Biggleswade IVEL first gathered as a like-minded group of individuals in September 1999, and was chartered as a club in 2000.

It was formed with the invaluable help and encouragement from the Rotary District Extension Officer, and the Rotary Clubs of Biggleswade and Sandy.

Unlike these 'mother' clubs of ours, we have our meetings in the evening rather than at lunchtime, thus enabling a wider range of members to take part.

Membership fluctuates with lifestyles and vocation, but currently we have around twenty six members with a fairly broad spread of interests and disciplines, but with only a 'slight' bias towards education and engineering.

Like all Rotary clubs we have a 'dual-gender' membership policy, and we are always encouraging the recruitment of younger members to our ranks.

Our club is officially part Area G of District 1070, in Zone 17, of Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland, and of Rotary International.  ( we used to be in Zone 18 before the boundary changes in 2009 )

Over the years, we have variously organised Fun and fund-raising events, including Music Concerts, Quizzes, Race Nights, Social Evenings, Fireworks Displays, and many more.

We have successfully undertaken many community projects, notably the Kingfisher Way Project in association with our ‘mother’ clubs, and the Ivel & Ouse Countryside Project.

In addition, on an international level we have funded the supply and distribution of mosquito nets in Africa.
